Oblivious to what was happening further away with the two guiarists, William smirked. "You bet I can! Lapdance not included in the price, though."

For some reason William had always been shy to sing when someone asked him to. Singing on a stage with instruments in the background? No problem. Singing a capella for someone in partcular? Problem. The critics could be harsh.

But it was Gabe. And if Gabe asked for something, he'd get it.
The power of the cobra, I suppose.

William leaned closer to the man's ear and whispered: "Tonight, you are the drug I can't deny..."

He backed away, one hand on Gabe's shoulder and his other hand holding an invisible microphone, and started singing to an audience that wasn't really there.

"Tonight, G-A-B-E gonna get you high - my light is electric!"

Stopping his act, he wriggled his hips and sang, "hey hey hey!" before laughing.

Tom couldn't breathe. He couldn't think, he couldn't see. He let go of Michael's throat and fell backwards, whimpering in pain. He wanted it now. He wanted nothing more than to be dead. He needed those pills. Now.

William heard the sound before seeing it. He imagined the worst things.

"Tom?"
Quickly turning his head away from Gabe, he caugh a glimpse of Tom, his body lying on the ground next to Michael. He was visibly in pain.

"Fuck!" he rose to his feet and dashed in direction of the two men, pushing Michael out of the way without even looking at him.

"Tom, what's happening?"
He muttered a quick "what the fuck, Michael" and attempted to place his hands behind the man's back to lift him.

"It's his fault." Tom choked out, letting William lift him up. He raised his hand and pointed it at Michael. "He... he wouldn't give me them!"

He looked at Michael. "Give him what?"
The man was paralyzed, unable to formulate an answer. William noted red finger marks around his neck.

This is getting out of hand. Get me the fuck out of this place.

"My... my things..." Tears leaked out of Tom's eyes and he clung to William. His stomach was flipping and soaring. He felt like he was going to be sick.

Seeing Tom cry once more broke William's heart. He wasn't like that before. What had happened? Had he done this to him?

"Calm down Tom, it's gonna be okay. I'm here." He rocked him gently against his bare chest. His bruises hurt a little, but he ignored it. "Tell me what are the things you're looking for. If you don't tell me, I can't help you."

This is not right. He used to be so independant, so detached from everyone... Now I've never seen anyone so insecure.

Tom suddenly pushed him away and vomited on the floor, shaking violently. "My pills." He whispered, clutching his stomach. "I need them."

William placed a hand on his mouth and looked away. He was shaking. "What pills?"

And then it occurred to him.

"You take pills? What...what are those pills for? Since when?"

Tom put his hands over his ears and shook his head, trying to block out what William was saying. He hated this, hated this, hated this. He didn't want them. He didn't.

William grasped Tom's hand, violently taking it away from his head to have his attention.

"What are those pills for, Tom?" His voice had raised with rage and fear.

Tom gripped it tightly, his hair plastered to his head with sweat and tears in his childish grey eyes. "Please." He whispered. "Please."

Heart-wrenching. That's how he was. William couldn't tell whether pity and compassion had taken over his fear yet, but there was still the shadow of a threat he couldn't dismiss.

"I won't hurt you." He took a deep breath, and his lungs seemed to burn when he exhaled. "I can't give you the pills if you don't tell me about them."

Tom stared at him with huge dark grey eyes, looking at him as though he was crazy. His mouth formed the word 'please' again, but no sound escaped his lips.
He stared at his shaking hands in horror. It had never got this far before. He'd always got to them.

William was scared, and Tom could probably read the fear in his eyes.

He rephrased his question. "What's wrong with you, Tom?"
He felt the tears form at the corner of his eyes. He was losing his friend to something he had no power over.

Tom screwed up his eyes and screamed.

He felt his stomach slowly begin to sink and prayed it would be the end.

Tears ran down William's cheeks and washed away the dirt and sand. He sobbed loudly, his vision horribly blurry, and roamed his hands on the ground around Michael in search of a pack of pills. Instead, his fingers closed around something metallic and heavy. A gun. He cussed and threw it aside. With only more panic, he finally found the pills and handed them to Tom without reading the prescription.

"Take them!" he shouted.

Tom snatched them up, his eyes gleaming. He dry-swallowed two and collapsed in exhaustion on the ground, the packet falling out his hand.

Gabe looked at the hurdle that was happening further away from him. He attempted to lift himself, in vain. He settled for crawling. When he finally caught up to the three men, a surprising picture stood before him. To his right was a man seemingly asleep.
To his left, Tom, who seemed to curl up and fall asleep as well and William; William, with each cheek tear-stained.
"What the hell is going on here... ?" he asked, alarmed at the sight. His voice was panicky, shaky. He let himself drop on the sand, his arms unable to support his weight any longer.

Tom stretched and opened his pale grey eyes. "How's your leg?" He asked, looking up at Gabe. "Why's William sad?" He cocked his head like a small child.

William wiped his cheeks with both hands. Nothing made sense anymore. I could someone change so quickly? What was the catalyst to his madness?

He grabbed the plastic bottle again, and this time he read the tag: lithium.
"Oh," he said aloud, and it sounded like a desperate plea for help of any sort. He couldn't deal with this alone. He couldn't deal with him alone. And the bottle was almost empty.

He shoved it in Gabe's face. "That's what's going on."

"Gimme." Tom held out his hand for his drugs. He smiled at William innocently.

William extended his arm, but his fingers were still firmly wrapped around the bottle.

Tom covered his eyes.

"I can't tell you." He whispered.

Gabe had barely had the time to react to the label that read 'Lithium' that William was already handing it over to Tom. He looked at both of them, then William. His eyes contained a hidden message. Let me talk.
"My leg's much better, Tom. I think I should be able to walk pretty soon" he answered, with a forced smile.
