Tom nodded placidly and tried to prise the bottle from his friend's hand. "Give it here!"

William refrained from saying any more and gave away the bottle.

He looked at Tom, his eyes still red and swollen.
I want to know what to do. I want to be your cure.

Tom yawned tiredly and gripped the bottle. He patted his pockets again and frowned, looking around the clearing. His eyes cleared and he picked up the gun, stowing it back in his pocket. He tapped the container on the ground in a rough melody.

Gabe eyed William, unsure what to do. After all, he barely knew Tom. He especially did not know he was in this condition.

"It's getting dark." Tom looked up at the foliage covered sky with fear in his eyes. He looked to the other men, unsure of what to do.

Since Gabe wouldn't say a word, William tried to get Tom's attention. It felt like he was talking to a child.

"You do know we'll run out of them eventually, right? You need to tell me what happens then."

True to form, Tom's eyes widened. "I don't know." He said calmly. "Mikey buys more for me, I guess."

William eyed Gabe, worried. Tom obviously didn't understand anything. What were they supposed to do? Was William better off telling him the facts and preparing him for what might come, or letting him believe what he wanted and watch him take everything all at once?

"We'll make a deal," William said calmly. "Your pills are precious, you know that? They're very important. Do you trust me? I want to keep them with me."

Tom scowled. He wasn't as stupid as they thought. "And what if you're not here when mania starts? Or hypermania for that matter?" He glared at them. "I'm not an idiot, you know."

"If you're not an idiot that maybe you can understand that we're fucking trying to help you here. If I keep them I know I'll always have you in sight. Maybe it's not comforting for you..." He sighed. "But it is for me. I want to make sure you're fine at all times."

"And depending on medication is fine, in your book, is it?" Tom snarled angrily, pinching the skin of his left hand with the index and thumb of his right. "You truly have no idea."

Gabe took his eyes off William to set them on Tom.
"I think he just wants to make sure you delay your itake the furthest possible. So you can keep them longer. ...right?" He looked at William. And back at Tom.
"We don't think you're stupid. We just want to make sure an accident doesn't happen. We have to take everyone's security in mind. Including yours."

Tom stared at him incredulously. "How can you delay my intake when I need to take a certain amount due to how bad I get? That's got nothing to do with anything. We're staying on here, I'm going to run out. There wasn't much in there."
He refrained from mentioning how much he hated those pills and the mania.

"Two days after you kicked me out." Tom replied automatically. "I take the right dose compared with what I'm in. If it's mania, I take two. Hypermania, one. There's no way of controlling them, otherwise I would, believe me." He pushed his hair out his eyes and stared sorrowfully at Michael.

"What I mean is, you have to make sure you keep them the longest possible. So that means no taking pills unless you really need them. It's gonna have to work that way. You didn't think it would be the same on this island, did you? Because it won't. And you'll have to make greater efforts to control yourself the best you can, because Will is obviously only wanting the best for you, despite what you think."

Gabe took a deep breath.
"Just try to see what's in front of you for a second."

William didn't hear the rest of Tom's words, nor Gabe's. He was stuck on the very first line. It was was his fault. It really was.

Because he had hurt Tom.
Because he had kicked him out of the band.
Because he had chosen the wrong priorities.
Because he had fallen for their fucking guitarist to begin with.

"Just try to see what's in front of you," Gabe had said.
He wasn't even sure he could look at himself again without being disgusted.

His glance turned over to William, who's stare was in the distance.

Tom tilted his head. "What's wrong?" He echoed, staring at William in concern.
Wait. They're saying I should only take it for mania. This is... this is going to be painful. Possibly dangerous.

"Nothing. I'm fine. Whatever." He shrugged it off. "I think I got one hell of a headache, though."
Seriously, I'm fine. I've had the confirmation I've ruined someone's life. I'm fine.

He clasped his hands together. "Who's hungry? I'm hungry. Gabe, you're veggie so you can eat leaves. Tom, I saw that huge-ass pig you brought. Think I can roast it?"

A smile quirked his lips. He wasn't sure why. "Probably. It looks edible." Tentatively, he reached out and brushed his hand against William's. "It's going to be ok. I'll try and control myself. Promise."

Gabe wanted to talk to William. But he obviously couldn't say anything in front of Tom, risking the exposure of William to him. He had a feeling William was not keen on letting Tom know every aspect of his feelings.
"Yeah. Leaves are fine for me" he finally said as an answer.

Tom looked at them, a strange look on his face. He grabbed Michael's arm. "Let's go explore!" He dragged him off into the darkness, clinging to the other man.

"Well Gabe, you'll have to help me with the fire. Did you and Joe learn to make one at Jew Camp?"

He smiled - but the more he tried to smile, the more he wanted to cry. It left an horrible feeling in his throat.
