"Sorry," Michael straightened so Tom could be comfortable again. He tried to avoid watching William trying to avoid looking at them.

Tom's eyes darted between the two of them in confusion. "Oh!" He suddenly realised, and slid off Michael's lap. Jeannie whined and butted the small of William's back with her little wet nose.

William gasped, and turned around to watch the little animal move. Even though it was getting more of Tom's attention then anybody else, it was undeniably adorable, and entirely worth it. He smiled.

Like a child. Tom and I could have a house in the suburbs and raise that dog together.

He chased the thought away.

Michael pulled his knees up and put an arm around them loosely, happy just to watch the puppy play.

Tom laughed uncomfortably. Jeannie, it seemed, had a fascination with William's jeans. She hooked her teeth over the top and pulled, growling happily.
God, I wish I could do that.

Tom laughed quietly. He whistled for his puppy. Jeannie turned around and barked, hopping onto his lap. She bit his crotch, before jumping onto Michael and biting his elbow. She ran around the small group in a circle for a little while, before collapsing on William, panting heavily.

Michael rubbed his elbow, relieved that the dog hadn't chosen to bite his crotch.

He hoped Michael would be the only one to see the innuendos in his sentence. He couldn't tell whether he had spoken to Tom yet.

Michael looked at William and shrugged. He knew where William was going, but he didn't really know the answer. They had started talking about hair of all things when Tom had came to after all.

Pink spots suddenly flared up on Tom's cheeks and he bent his head down under the pretext of checking his trousers. "Oh God..." He groaned. "Is that blood?"

Okay. Tom has blood on his pants, and it's Michael's? This is madness. Or provocation. Fuck all this.

"Don't refrain from doing...whatever you wanted to do just because I'm there. Hey, you know what? I'm leaving." He chose his word carefully, hoping Tom would feel the slightest hint of guilt. I hadn't meant it so seriously. He simply needed to stay away from the two when they were sharing these...moments together.

He smiled bitterly. Jeannie understood what he was doing, and jumped off his lap with a bark. When he actually started walking, she seemed to insist on following him. He ignored her, although well aware of her presence.

Act cool. Walk normally.

The second he knew for sure that he was out of the two men's sight, he started running. The dog followed obediantly, barking happily.

Michael looked from where William used to be and opened his mouth to say something, closing it again when he realized William wasn't there anymore. Neither was the puppy. This didn't look good.
