| William ran back to Tom as fast as he could, this time thankfully not slowed down by little Marlee in his arms. If I'm too late I'll never forgive myself. He stopped feet away from were he previously had been sitting, close enough to see Tom and his father and hear their conversation. He didn't move, but he knew he could act if he had to. | William heard the shot and saw the wound before feeling anything. He had let out a small cry of shock. It started with a stingy sensation, then burning, and finally just pain, terrible pain, and it didn't seem to want to stop. The bullet had entered right below his left shoulder, under the collarbone. William immediately kneeled down to avoid getting shot again, and pressed a hand over the wound. Why...? He clenched his teeth and tried not to look at the blood.
