Tom's jaw dropped. Tears filled his grey eyes.
His jaw set and he turned to the rock beside him.
He took a deep breath.
And smashed his arm against it.

Michael wiped the blood from his hand on the back of his pants. It was his blood; he excepted that fact now. He could tell by the look on Tom's face that the man didn't want to be touched, but he had to move him. He couldn't just leave Tom there to die.

Bracing himself for the earful he was likely to get, he reached down to pull Tom to his feet.

It was as if all oxygen had been sucked out of William's lungs at once. "Take him! For fuck's sake Michael, grab him!"

He shuddered, and felt Gabe's face burried in his collarbone to avoid seeing more.

He couldn't look at Tom. He didn't want to look at Tom. "Why are you doing this...?"

His eyes stung. He loathed himself so much.

Tom stared at him with wounded eyes, his breath coming shallowly. "I always knew..." He didn't finish the sentence, his head flopping against Michael's legs.

I'm nothing.

Michael picked up the pace and grabbed Tom and put a protective arm around him. At the moment it was a lot easier to focus and do something if someone was ordering him to. He would have to thank William later for helping him to narrow his thoughts down.

William started sobbing, although there wasn't a single tear coming out of his eyes. The sun was too hot, Gabe was too heavy, his wounds hurt too much. Everything was amplified, especially his guilt.

He whispered, "We're not going to make it... We'll end up killing eachother..."

If we fight again it's going to kill us both.

He blinked, raised his chin and tried to be brave. "Michael do you think you can carry him to the river? Try not to move his arm, it might get worse."

Tom's eyes fluttered open again as they began to move. He remained silent, watching the sand beneath him shift as he was carried across it in Michael's strong arms. He moved slightly, so that it was easier for him to be moved. His arm hung limp, dangling over Michael's stronger one.

William led the way.

"Thank you Michael. I'm sorry you have to put up with this. I don't know what I'd be doing without you."

Michael still looked a little dazed, but at least he knew what has happening. "It's no problem."

He followed carefully.

Tom shifted again, moving himself upwards so he was leaning his forehead on Michael's neck.
It was like he had no spirit anymore.
Maybe he'd broken more than his arm.

Sisky let the tide throw him and his life-saving trunk onto the beach. He tried to stand but found his legs were a little unsteady from all the floating, which was okay because sitting was just fine with him.

"Got to keep moving. I have to find shelter before it gets dark," Adam started the process of dragging his trunk into the jungle.
