Lost

Grumble.

"Dang it," Frank spoke.

He hadn't eaten for two days now, and being in the jungle didn't help either. Having Mikey around would have distracted it from hunger somehow. A lazy smile appeared to his lips at the thought, but shook it off as his stomach protested once more.

His knees felt sore from the branch scratches he was starting to collect heavily, and he wished he could find a fruit tree.

Michael walked aimlessly through the jungle, still carrying Pete. "I'm not sure that was the right way." He stopped walking a moment to look up at the canopy. It seemed the trees would never end.

His ears perked, hearing voices behind him. Then again, maybe it was just the waves crashing on the shore close by.

"Someone there?" he spoke aloud, not really expecting an answer.

"Huh?" Michael stiffened and held Pete a little closer. He hadn't been expecting to hear a voice out here but it could have just been his imagination.

There was a feeling of being spyed on that nagged at the back of his head. He carefully started tip toeing between the branches, sensing there was someone there.

"Who is it?" Michael looked down at him. So he wasn't the only one who heard a voice, that was a relief. He relaxed a little.

Crouched down, Frank slowly advanced forward, making sure that no branch would snap under his weight, that he couldn't be seen. After all, it could be a bear or... some evil creature that had inhabited the island for thousands of years...

Frank let his comic book fueled mind run free as he became more and more nervous.

He stopped moving immediately when he identified a large silhouette standing between the trees a few meters away from where he was hiding. The figure was too large to belong to a human being, and the leaves made it hard to determine what was really standing there.

With precaution, he wrapped his finger around a small rock and threw it quickly in the dirrection of the 'thing'.

"Ow," Michael looked around in disbelief. Something had just hit him in the head, he was sure of it.

Hearing his name called out made him feel both relieved and extremely awkward.

Nice one, Frank. "I just threw a rock at you 'cause I thought you were Baby Godzilla."

He rose up, and climbed his way out of the branches, landing in front of a guy carrying Pete in his arms.

"Hello...?" Frank greeted uncertain, his eyes asking Pete for support.

"Hi... nice aim," Michael smiled, glad that Pete had rubbed his head for him.

"...'you O.K., Pete?"

Frank felt the situation was rather odd, and Pete being held bride style in Michael's arm was, in his opinion, not helping at all.

Michael blushed and looked away. He felt the awkwardness of the situation too.

Frank was about to make a random comment about the scene, but decided it was better not to since the last time he had, things had gotten out of hands really fast. Opting for confusion was a better idea.

"So... you are being carried around by Michael because...?"

"He can't walk," Michael blushed. He could answer that one at least. He couldn't explain the blushing without blushing more so he hoped Frank wouldn't ask.

Frank nodded vaguely. "Is there any chance you guys have seen a certain 'Mikey Russell' waking around? I kinda got lost looking for him."

"Mikey Russel?" Michael looked at Pete to see if he had come across the man Frank was talking about.

Frank mirrored Michael's crimson face in less than a second. "I... huh, you know. I'm just wondering where he's gone, s'all!"

"Well, we haven't seen him." Michael said even though it wasn't necessary.
