"Yes and they're nice trees," Michael chuckled softly and adjusted himself to accomadate Tom and the baby on his lap.

"What are you thinking about?" Michael mirrored Tom's confused smile.

"You." Tom blushed slightly, kissing the corner of Michael's mouth. "I mean, I say all this stuff, and you never get angry. Not even when I was a real asshole, when none of you knew I was in mania. Why?"

Tom lowered his head and bit the side of his neck. "Before that!" He protested. "When I was saying all that stuff about your God. And how I used to just call you 'Australian', as thought that's all you were. You didn't get angry then."

"I am Australian, and my God is merciful so He wouldn't mind." Michael let hs eyes flutter closed.

Tom shivered. "I hate religion. No offence." He added hastily. He was almost rigid in Michael's lap, completely unnerved. Suddenly, he slipped off and sat next to him again.

Tom hunched his shoulders up. "My father got early bail by saying he'd converted." He mumbled, hugging Marlee close.

"I'm sorry," Michael massaged Tom's shoulders gently to try to get them to relax. "We won't talk about it if you don't want to. I don't care what you are or aren't, I love you."

Tom leant into Michael, inhaling his warm scent. "I don't want to be like him." He mumbled. "I don't want to lose you."

Michael brought their hands to his lips so he could lazily kiss Tom's fingers one by one.

Michael flashed a teasing smile for a few seconds before deciding to feign innocence. He carefully slipped Tom's finger into his mouth and sucked on it gently.
