"Frank?" Mikey choked out. "Is that you?" The puppy licked him anxiously.

It's me big time, he thought.

He temporarily forgot about his demanding stomach and walked at a fast pace, getting closer to Mikey. He refrained himself from hugging him, not entirely sure if the others were comfortable with them. Or even if they wanted to know about them.

"Man... what happened?" Frank froze as he spied the blood.

Michael noticed the blood too now. Pete had been in the way previously. He wondered what happened or what attacked the man. Maybe a dog like Jeannie's mother?

Tom suddenly realised. Mikey's eyes were fixed on the trees behind them. "Er ist blind!" He shouted. The older man moved his head in the direction of Tom's voice and nodded.

Pete knew only little amounts of German, but he could tell that Tom had been trying to tell them that Mikey was blind. He looked at the man confused. Had Frank known this all along?

Mikey rubbed his eyes again. "There... there was a tree, or something. It... it hit my eyes." He shrugged. "I can't see you." He reached out his hands tentatively.

Frank's eyes widened suddenly. "What?"

He kneeled down next to Mikey, holding his hand tight.

"I'm... I'm right here..."

He pressed his palm to the side of Mikey's face, his thumb stroking his eyebrows, too afraid to go too near his eyes.

Michael wanted to ask what had happened but he wasn't sure if he should or not. He walked a little closer and put Pete down, a little afriad to get any nearer.

Tom looked around the clearing. "Hier!" He shouted, wrapping his hand around a lethal looking bloodstained branch. He stared at the thorns uneasily, before snapping it off. "Gegangen!" He suddenly stopped. "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" He asked tentatively.

Pete allowed Michael to set him on the ground. He ended up sitting on a nearby rock. "Does anyone here speak German?" Pete asked. He was afraid that no one else did. In that case, he'd have to use his little knowledge of the language to help Tom explain.

"Ja." Mikey said quietly, trying to follow the sound of Tom's voice. "Nicht sehr gut... Mein Freund ist besser." Tom clapped his hands delightedly and suddenly ran and hugged the older man. Mikey was slightly thrown.

Michael smiled. He was happy for Tom that he finally had someone who could understand him.

"Niemand versteht mich." He said shyly in Mikey's ear. He suddenly felt awkward and pulled away. "Vielen Dank." He said gruffly, scuffing at the floor with his foot.

Pete was relieved to not have to rack his brain to translate. He simply sat back and watched what was happening around him. How did all of this happen?

"Tom... Conrad." Mikey amended, "Speaks German fluently. I'm... not so good." He wrinkled his nose. "I just told him I spoke it, but Tom was better. He said thanks."

"Ah. Well I guess that's good... You honestly can't see anything?" Frank shifted from side to side, wondering if Mikey could figure out his movements.

Michael put his arms around himself. It seemed that this proved the need for everyone to stick together. It was safer that way.

"Ich kann meinen Bruder nicht finden." Tom said to no one in particular, head down. "Ich will Bill..." A tear slipped down his cheek, unnoticed.

Pete looked around to everyone's faces. Some were worried, some looked concerned. Although he was both worried and concerned, he was happy to know that at least now they were in a group together, not spread out.

"He says he can't find his brother." Mikey raised his hands to Frank again. "Says that he wants his brother. Anyone seen him?"

The guitarist looked around before shaking his head negatively. He turned to Tom with a sorry look. "I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere," he said slowly, hoping the boy understood him.

"I haven't seen much of anyone," Michael looked at Pete. Except him. I've seen a lot of Pete.

Tom didn't understand what the small man said, but he got the gist. He gave him a smile, then realised he didn't know his name. He pointed to himself. "Tom." Then he pointed to Michael, saying his name. He gave the rest of them a sad shrug. "Was sind Ihre Namen?" He looked at them in askance.

Pete returned Michael's gaze, trying not to smirk. He didn't know what Michael was thinking, but he had the gist of it. He then looked away, making sure that he didn't make the Aussie blush anymore. They couldn't really explain that to anyone else. He then looked over at Mikey, wondering what Tom had just asked them.
