Michael looked at the picture, glad it wasn't ruined by the crash for the boy's sake. He hid his amusement at Tom's brother's name. It seemed he just couldn't avoid problems.

Tom put it on the floor and pointed at it. He held up ten fingers, and then another seven again, before pocketing his wallet.

"Twins?" Michael tried to think of a gesture that would mean the same thing.

"Zwillinge." Tom said quietly, looking at Michael tentatively. "Broter... uhh..." He pointed to himself and mimed playing the guitar. "Broter." He held an imaginary microphone to his mouth.

Michael pointed to himself and mimed playing guitar as well, a big smile on his face.

Well they had something in common at least. If they only had guitars he was sure they could communicate better since music was universal.

Tom smiled. "Tokio Hotel." He said proudly. He knew those words in several different languages, at least.

Michael made mental notes so he'd remember to keep tabs on Tom's band if they ever made it off of the island.

"The Academy Is." Michael decided not to say anything about Butch Walker. That was the past.

Tom nodded slowly, mouthing the words to himself. He wished he could speak Michael's language, make him understand how much music meant to him, that he wasn't just a little kid messing around, they had a record deal and three albums. But there was no way he could.

Michael scratched his head. It was worth a try to ask if the boy had a label. He wasn't too young for that after all. But how would he ask?

He took a stick and found a part of ground not covered in too much under brush to draw a circle with a small circle inside of. It was a record or a CD kind of. He looked up with questioning eyes to hope his drawing wasn't too bad or indirect.

It would be a lot easier to get in contact with Tom again if his band had a record contract.

"Aufzeichnung." Tom murmured to himself. He nodded and pointed to Michael, silently asking the same thing.

Michael nodded even though he though he knew he had some things to explain. It was too complicated for him to get across, so he left it at that.

Maybe musicians are more likely to survive plane crashes.

Tom sang again. Maybe... maybe Bill was unconscious. And he'd heard Tom singing, and that would wake him up. Yes. He screwed up his eyes. "Schrei?"

"hm?" Michael looked at Tom, curious about why the boy was singing and why he stopped. He wondered if maybe they could find his brother together.

"Umm..." Tom bit his lip. "Lied? Unser lied?" He moved his hands around, tears of frustration in his eyes. Suddenly, a line of one of their English songs floated into his head. "Come and rescue me, I'm burning, can't you see..." He sang quietly, before pointing to himself. It was obvious he had no idea what the words meant.

Michael stared at Tom and blushed, wondering if he had any idea what his words meant and if so, what had he had meant by them.

What does he want me to do?

Tom could tell by Michael's reaction that what he'd said either wasn't right or had some other meaning. He covered his face in embarressment. His shoulder's shook again. He was too young to be doing this. Why had they started that band so early? Where had him and Bill been during French and English classes? His memory refused to remind him.

Michael sang a few lines from Everything We Had because it was the first song that he could think of. He smiled in hopes that Tom would see he understood he hadn't meant what he said.

At least I hope you were singing one of your songs.

Tom raised his young face and pointed to Michael, eyebrow raised in question. His tongue flicked against his lip ring briefly.

Michael nodded, hoping that meant 'yes that is one of our songs.' He never realized how much he had taken language for granted.

Tom's face cleared before he hid it again. His fingers entwined and twisted, unsure like a small child. he wished more than ever that he'd been in his language lessons.

Michael hoped he hadn't offended Tom in some way. He watched him to see what he'd do next, not really sure what expression to show on his face. Body language had suddenly become one of the most important things he could use.

He cried softly. Why didn't he know English, or, better yet, why didn't Michael know German? Tiny whimpering sobs spilled over his lips as he lay curled up against the tree. He was so tired.

Michael inched a little closer, hoping not to seem to creepy, and tenatively patted Tom on the back a few times before pulling his hand away.

Michael put his arms around Tom in a way he hoped was nonthreatening and made soothing sounds in his throat since the words themselves didn't matter.
