"James!" Michael ran up to where his friend was standing under a tree gazing at the waterfall.
"What?" he turned around, smiling yet unsure.
"I made my choice," Michael paused to catching his breath.
"So Tom then? Or....?"
"Tom," Michael nodded. "He found a baby and we're going to raise her together. I wish you could see her."
James made a noncommital noise and shrugged, silent for several minutes before he looked the other Australian directly in the eyes and said, "I'm happy for you, Michael. You know that, but are you sure you made the right choice?"
"Pete doesn't want anything to do with me anymore and the other Tom doesn't need me. Tom loves me." Michael frowned as he worked through his thought process aloud.
"I'm not so sure about that," James answered back cryptically and turned back towards the water.
