Michael carried Tom to a clearing not too far away from the river so they could find it again if either of them needed a drink.

Tom, who had been dozing, jolted awake again, staring around with bleary eyes.

Michael laid Tom down on the ground carefully and sat next to him. "Don't worry. Everything's fine," he tried to let his tone of voice say as much as his voice, hoping Tom got the message.

Tom nodded, guessing what he was saying. As soon as Michael put him down, he scrambled into his lap again.

Michael chuckled and wrapped his arms around the boy again.

He placed his head on Michael's collarbone, rubbing against it.

Michael hummed a random tune and ran a finger over the soft skin of Tom's cheek a little more intimately than he'd meant to.

Tom smiled at him, something shining in his large brown eyes.

Michael smiled back down at him. He felt like promising Tom anything and everything just so the kid would stay as happy as he looked right now.

Michael nodded his 'you're welcome' and smiled at him.

Tom smiled back uncertainly. You're just a kid. What would someone like Michael want with someone like you, when he's got Pete?

Michael sighed and leaned back against a tree, keeping the boy in his lap. It was surprisingly chilly at this time of day and he wanted Tom to stay warm. He wanted to comment on how crazy everything was on the island but he was sure Tom already knew.

Tom snuggled further into Michael's lap. Usually he acted a bit more adult than this, but there was no one to see, and he really didn't care. He was cold and tired.

Michael chuckled softly and held the boy a little tighter.

Tom smiled at him again. "Vielen danke." He wrinkled his nose. He wanted to break the silence. "My English teacher was bad." he explained, hoping the words he used were right.

Michael smiled back and reached out to see what the boy's dreadlocks felt like since he couldn't exactly ruffle Tom's hair. "Don't worry about it."

Tom wriggled his head and smiled shyly at the older man.

Michael smiled back. He wished something would wash up on shore that would allow them to talk to each other freely. He had a feeling it might take him awhile to learn German.

Tom leant his head on Michael's shoulder. "The walls are coming closer, my sense fade away..." He sang quietly. "Tokio Hotel."

Michael nodded and gestured for Tom to continue if he wanted to.

Tom blushed and didn't continue, hiding his head in Michael's chest. "Bill..." He whispered.

"We'll find him," Michael murmured, his tone of voice warm and conforting.

Tom looked up at him, tears in his eyes.

Michael put a hand on Tom's heart and said, "Bill," hoping that Tom got the message that even if they didn't find his brother soon the other boy would always be with him. It was a little cheesy on his part, but he didn't know what else he could say.
