"I wonder what your first word will be," Michael smiled as he watched Tom lift Marlee. He didn't want to miss any of her developmental milestones.

"Things will work out," Michael doubted that they would work out perfectly but they could figure out a way to be together with Marlee as much as possible.

Michael kissed back. His insides bubbled with happiness even though they had nothing but promises for a future that might not come.
