Somebody help me...

"Tom?" Michael called out, gathering promising looking leaves and branches on his way into the jungle. He kept an eye out for any animals that looked poisonous or edible.

"Tom?"

"Tom?" Michael's eyes widened when he saw what Tom was holding. Where did he get a gun?

He bent near Tom, careful not to move too quickly. "Give me that."

"Tom... please? We need you," Michael held his hand out for the gun.

The sight of Tom with the weapon scared him out of his mind, and he tried to think of the right thing to say to make it all right. All he could do was repeat what he already said, "Please? I need you."

He didn't realize he had changed the pronoun.

"Yes," Michael nodded and held out his hand. He wasn't really sure what Tom would do, so his muscled tensed in anticipation.

Michael's eyes widened when he realized what Tom was saying.

Assisted suicide...

Murder...

Michael left his face carefully blank as he considered what he would do next. They might need the gun in the future, but at the same time he would have to sleep some time and who would guard it from Tom then?

Sighing, Michael moved the gun away and shook his head. "No." It was the right thing to do.

Michael's eyes softened and he sat on the ground next to Tom, carefully placing the gun out of reach.

"If any of us are going to survive we need all the help we can get," Not exactly eloquent but he spoke the truth. There was safety in numbers after all, and Michael was wary of their surrondings.

Michael did what seemed natural under the circumstances: he took Tom into his arms. Simple logic stated that when people are upset you hug them, Michael didn't give it a second thought. He just hoped Tom would get out whatever was bothering him so they could finish gathering materials to build a shelter with. Without shelter they probably wouldn't last long either way.

"Then we'll have to make you some right here," Michael chuckled then stopped to groan inwardly at how camp that sounded.. He hadn't meant for it to come out that way.

Michael smiled. "Better?"

He let his eyes wander, taking note of nearby trees with broad, reachable leaves and saplings he could probably knock over with a little force.

"He won't kill you." Michael snapped a big leaf off and inspected it. He wished he had watched Man vs. Wild with Sisky that one time when everyone was waiting around for something to do. Hopefully the leaf would be waterproof.

Michael turned slowly, "Why do you need a knife?"

Michael watched unamused, and frowned as another wave of dizziness overtook him.

He bent over and gingerly lifted Tom's arm, kissing it to make it better. "There, you're fine." He wasn't really thinking. It hurt to think. It didn't hurt to just do things, so he started attacking a young tree to add it to his pile of large branches and leaves.

Michael shrugged, "I don't have a knife. I'm sure we'll figure something out." He thought it was strange that Tom would be so willing to give up one of his limbs under any circumstances. He wasn't sure if he would, but he did know that Tom had been through a lot. It had changed him.
