Michael mumbled some words he was saying in his dream. Most of them were hard to make out except for a clearly audible, "Tom."

Tom's brow furrowed. There are two Toms, remember? He reminded himself. He patted Michael's head gently.

Michael automatically reached up to catch Tom's hand in his own. He was starting to wake up a little bit.

Michael opened his eyes and blinked a couple times. "Hello?"

Tom waved placidly at him.

Michael waved back with a smile. He wasn't making the choice he knew he'd have to make any easier.

Tom stretched out, yawning again. "Bill." He gave Michael a thumbs up.

Michael copied the thumbs up gesture with an inquisitive look on his face. You're fine now?

Michael smiled and pulled Tom into a tight hug. "We'll find him."

Michael started panicking inside. He hoped he wasn't leading Tom on like he thought he might have been doing earlier.

"Broter... Broter OK?" Tom tried again, biting his lip. He guessed from the look on Michael's face that he shouldn't hug the older man anymore.

Michael nodded, chalking Tom's knowledge up to some kind of twin connection thing he wouldn't know anything about.

Tom beamed at him. He understood. "My English bad." He apologised.

"My German's bad," Michael shrugged with a sheepish smile. If Tom was there he'd understand. If Pete was there he'd probably be jealous. Michael groaned inwardly.

Tom nodded. He stopped. Did I really skive all my English lessons? "I..." He shrugged. He couldn't remember anything else.

Michael shrugged back, closing his eyes for a moment. He didn't know what to say.

Tom wriggled off Michael's lap. He wanted to try climbing trees.

Michael let him go and protectively watched the boy scamper around.

Tom hoisted his trousers up and jumped for the branch, grabbing onto it. he hung there for a while, legs waggling, before pulling himself onto it.

Michael chuckled and watched. He had a bad feeling the poor kid was going to lose his pants.

Tom wriggled up to the next branch, scraping his face painfully on the trunk of the tree.

Michael saw Tom's face connect with the tree trunk but he couldn't tell if the boy had hurt himself or not, "Tom?"
